Restaurant Sem Porta
The architecture finds its inspiration in the old rice storing facilites of the area. There are no "doors" closed to creation, no barriers to creativity. The light comes through the floor to ceiling windows, connecting interior and exterior, entering the room, invading the kitchen and jumping into the pots.
Both the landscape and nature that surround inspire the creations of this restaurant. At Sem Porta, the stars are the local products and producers, the regional and national knowledge and taste. There's a respect for the origins and for time, which in the Alentejo has a different rhythm.
Here, we practice a seasonal cuisine, of communion with respect for nature. From the organic garden, in front of the restaurant, come some of the ingredients that make up the menu. From Comporta and Alentejo, references are recovered and reinvented, with suggestions such as the ´Tempura Vegetables from our Garden´, the ´Xara head with homemade pickles and Coriander Mousse´, the rice in its most varied versions or “A Match Made in Alentejo”: a dessert that gathers tomato and cheese, a declaration of love to the cooking and the soul of Alentejo.
Creativity, seasonality, locality and irreverence are the nouns that season the menu's suggestions. No Door, no taboos or omissions. Authenticity. All with a dash of the Alentejo.
